How It Works: Melphalan alkylates DNA through bifunctional nitrogen mustard cross-linking, triggering irreparable DNA damage and apoptosis in myeloma cells, with dose-adjusted use minimizing toxicity in sensitive patients.

Common Uses: Dose-adjusted multiple myeloma therapy (MP regimen), elderly or frail myeloma patients requiring lower-intensity alkylation, and low-intensity conditioning before stem cell transplant.
