Alphalan 5 MG Tablet contains Melphalan 5mg, an oral alkylating agent used in the treatment of multiple myeloma and ovarian carcinoma, and as a conditioning agent prior to bone marrow transplantation.

How It Works: Melphalan is a bifunctional alkylating agent (nitrogen mustard derivative) that forms covalent cross-links between and within DNA strands, preventing replication and transcription in malignant plasma cells and ovarian cancer cells.

Common Uses: Multiple myeloma (MP regimen with prednisone), advanced ovarian carcinoma, and high-dose conditioning before autologous stem cell transplant (IV form).

Administration: Take on an empty stomach — food significantly reduces absorption. Swallow whole with water. Regular blood count monitoring is essential throughout treatment.
