How It Works: Niclosamide uncouples oxidative phosphorylation in tapeworm mitochondria, blocking ATP production and glucose absorption in the scolex and proglottids, causing energy starvation, paralysis, and detachment from the intestinal wall.

Common Uses: Taenia saginata (beef tapeworm), Taenia solium (pork tapeworm), Diphyllobothrium latum (fish tapeworm), Hymenolepis nana (dwarf tapeworm), and other cestode infections.

Administration: Chew tablets thoroughly and swallow with a small amount of water. Take as prescribed — typically a 2-day course for some tapeworms. A saline purge may be recommended after treatment to expel worm segments.
